Sheetz Continues Strategic Growth with New Virginia Location

July 10, 2026

On July 2, 2026 Sheetz celebrated the grand opening of its newest convenience store in Ashburn, Virginia, located at the corner of Belmont Ridge Road and Portsmouth Boulevard. As the Architect of Record for the project, APD Engineering & Architecture is proud to have partnered with Sheetz in bringing another location to life, supporting the brand’s continued commitment to delivering a convenient, customer-focused experience to communities across its growing footprint.

Founded in 1952, Sheetz has grown into one of the nation’s most recognized convenience retailers by combining quality fuel, made-to-order food, and customer-first experience under one roof. Today, the company operates more than 830 stores across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland, while continuing to invest in thoughtful expansion and innovation. As part of its long-term vision, Sheetz plans to grow to 1,000 locations through a strategic expansion approach focused on scalability, operational efficiency, and meaningful community engagement.

The new Ashburn location reflects that strategy in action. Positioned on the corner of Belmont Ridge Road and Portsmouth Boulevard, the nearly 5,000-square-foot store features Sheetz’s signature made-to-order food offerings, a modern convenience store, fuel service, and infrastructure to support future electric vehicle charging. Designed to serve both locals and commuters, the location strengthens Sheetz’s presence in one of Northern Virginia’s fastest-growing communities.

As Architect of Record, APD collaborated closely with the project team to help bring the design to life while supporting efficient project delivery through coordinated design, technical expertise, and responsive communication.

Through our integrated approach, APD has become a trusted partner in Sheetz’s continued growth, supporting more than 50 Sheetz projects across multiple markets and helping deliver consistent, high-quality facilities that reflect the brand’s evolving standards. Whether supporting new ground-up developments or site-specific adaptations, our team understands the importance of balancing prototype consistency with the unique requirements of each location.

As Sheetz continues expanding toward its goal of 1,000 stores, APD is proud to support a brand recognized for innovation, operational excellence, and an unwavering commitment to serving the communities where it operates. We look forward to continuing our partnership and helping bring future Sheetz locations to communities across the country.
