Stephanie Albright, PE, Senior Project Engineer, from APD Engineering & Architecture, recently presented an updated concept for the proposed relocation of Taco Bell in Batavia, New York.
Working with Hospitality Syracuse, Inc., APD is supporting plans to move the existing restaurant at 413 West Main Street to the former Timebuyer property at 244–248 West Main Street.
The proposed restaurant features Taco Bell’s latest Kitchen X prototype. The format uses a longer, narrower footprint designed to improve kitchen efficiency and order throughput while maintaining approximately the same building area and staffing level as the existing location.
Adapting the Prototype to the Site
APD is providing site planning, Civil Engineering, and entitlement coordination to adapt the prototype to the property’s unique conditions.
Following coordination with the New York State Department of Transportation, the access plan was revised. Customers and delivery vehicles would enter and exit from Montclair Avenue, while drive-thru traffic would also have access to an exit on West Main Street.
The updated concept includes 22 parking spaces, perimeter landscaping, and service areas at the rear of the property. APD is also addressing landscape buffer requirements, floodplain regulations, and the traffic study required for the full site plan submission.

The Planning and Development Committee provided preliminary feedback during the concept review. APD will continue working with the client, City representatives, and reviewing agencies as the project advances through site-plan review.
