Dan Sargent believes the strongest design solutions begin with understanding the problem, the people, and the long-term impact. That mindset has guided Dan’s career at APD since joining the firm in 2005 as a designer and continues to shape APD’s growth into a national, multidisciplinary architecture and engineering partner.
With more than 25 years of industry experience, Dan brings deep expertise across design, project delivery, and operational leadership. Prior to becoming CEO, Dan led the ALDI Prototype program, helping develop scalable, efficient design solutions through continuous improvement and close client collaboration. Today, Dan focuses on strengthening integrated services, improving coordination, and empowering teams to deliver consistent, high-quality results that help clients scale with confidence.
Dan leads with transparency, accountability, and a strong belief in investing in people. Building a culture rooted in growth, efficiency, and shared ownership drives both performance and lasting relationships. For Dan, success is not about prestige, but about seeing thoughtful decisions come together to create spaces that make a meaningful impact on the communities they serve. These values continue to define how APD partners with clients across the country.
Outside of work, Dan enjoys spending time outdoors with family, skiing, supporting youth softball, traveling, and perfecting barbecue recipes.

Dan’s favorite project has been helping design the ALDI prototype. Between the prototype’s development and the continuous collaboration with his clients, he was able to learn a process of continuous improvement to gain constructability, efficiency, and value, all while maintaining top quality.
