Brent Powell, PE

For Brent, meaningful work starts with relationships. He believes the best outcomes come from understanding different perspectives, building trust, and working toward a shared goal. Rather than treating challenges as either-or decisions, he looks for common ground, practical solutions, and outcomes that serve both people and projects. That people-first mindset shapes the way he works with clients, colleagues, and project teams.

As Vice President of Operations and Senior Principal of Structural Engineering, Brent helps lead integrated architecture and engineering teams across retail, healthcare, hospitality, and commercial projects. Since joining APD in 2014 to establish the Structural Department, Brent has become a firmwide operations leader by working closely with clients, designers, contractors, and internal teams to build alignment, solve complex challenges, and strengthen the systems that support practical project outcomes and long-term success. He believes that true success is achieved when everyone involved is positioned to thrive.

Guided by respect, trust, and patience, Brent believes true leaders work alongside their teams, creating an environment where people feel valued, supported, and able to grow. He is passionate about building lasting relationships and helping develop the next generation of architects and engineers.

Outside of APD, Brent enjoys time with family and friends, exploring national parks, hiking, camping, running, and recreational sports.
