Established in 1996
APD Engineering and Architecture was founded in 1996 by Steve Cleason, P.E., in Rochester, New York with personnel from regional and national professional firms. Initially, the firm provided civil engineering services and developed close consultant partnerships to deliver full service for local projects and to national retail clients.
As the company grew, services were expanded to meet the requests of our clients to bring the same high level of service and low cost to other areas. This included adding architectural services in 2003, which has quickly grown to become a major component of the firm. These services have grown into work for a variety of national clients across the United States. APD Engineering and Architecture is now the national prototype architect for ALDI and Monro Muffler Brake.
In 2008, APD relocated its headquarters to the Town of Victor, Ontario County, New York. This strategic move was made to preserve the small firm atmosphere while bringing our national capabilities to a growing, but underserved, area. The company’s ability to provide public infrastructure and facilities design has enabled us to service the growing area of Ontario County.
Inevitable expansion led to the opening of a West Coast (California) office in late 2015. This expansion enables APD to grow alongside their West Coast clients and to effectively provide them with the services they require. MEP services were added in 2017. With offices on both coasts, and Architects and Engineers licensed in roughly 75% of the United States, APD is well equipped to provide clients with personalized, local assistance, and onsite support for projects.
APS is continually improving our processes as a result of the talent and commitment of our people and the building of stable, trusting relationships with our clients. This is exemplified by APD continuing to provide design services to the clients that started with the firm in 1996.
